  • What is Classical Pilates?

Classical Pilates is the instruction of Pilates exercises in its truest most authentic form as taught by founder Joseph Pilates, in the order that he taught them and the names by which he referred to them. Joe organized his exercises into levels or systems to make the method more accessible -- Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. The levels build on each other. The same exercise may be taught at each level in the same order in a more challenging way, while new exercises are added. Joe’s method centers on 6 principles: Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath, and Flow.

  • How do I begin if I've never done pilates before?

  • Can I do pilates if I am pregnant?

Yes! Pilates is a great low-impact workout to do while you are pregnant because it boosts flexibility, balance, and helps strengthen your pelvic floor without putting too much strain on your joints. Also, the exercises can easily be modified as your pregnancy progresses.

  • Can I do pilates if I've had an injury?

Yes! Joseph Pilates created his method with both able bodies and injured bodies in mind. The Pilates method is known for its restorative qualities. We have had clients with the following issues such as Parkinsons, paralysis, neuropathy, back injury, broken bones, who have had great success with their recovery and building strength.
Since it is low-impact and the exercises can be modified there is rarely a case that we cannot accommodate. Pilates is for everyone – that’s its magic.

  • How many times should I do pilates per week to see results?

We recommend doing Pilates 2 to 3 times per week. Joseph Pilates would say, “In 10 sessions you will feel the difference. In 20 sessions you will see the difference. And in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.”
