Brenda-Li was introduced to the Pilates method, or the “art of contrology,” as a way of rehabilitation and injury prevention after sustaining various injuries from dancing with American Ballet Theater in New York. After her retirement from dancing professionally, she studied the classical method of Joseph Pilates under the tutelage of his leading protege, Master teacher Romana Kryzanowska, and obtained her level 5 certification in 2001. Brenda-Li began teaching at Winsor Pilates and has performed in over 2 dozen videos in the Winsor Pilates series. For years she was also the blog fitness expert for GAIAM and Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates, contributing articles and video tutorials for their websites. Currently, Brenda-Li’s a brand ambassador for SOLOW Sport apparel and contributes to the company’s blog. She’s featured in numerous magazines including Shape, Fit, Health, Glamour, and Dance Magazine. Brenda-Li also has a passion for laughing; she loves doing stand-up comedy and can be seen performing at LA comedy clubs. She’s also experienced in the healing and creative arts. Once a dancer, always a dancer, so she still choreographs, performs, and enjoys exploring different types of movement: yoga, aerial tissu, hoop dance, and latin ballroom dance. Pilates continues to be her foundation for all movement.
