#Pilateschallenge15 N 5 πŸ“ Flat Back ↖️ from The Short Box Series Lifting up from the back through the finger tips, lean back and return to sitting. Maintaining a 2-way stretch in the body try to keep the arms and ears in line. Pro Tip: πŸ”‘ Try to avoid the temptation to go further back then you can control, it can lead to injury, and won't deepen your connection and control. Also, avoid using momentum and maintain flexed feet from the ankle not the metatarsal. Try not to make any sound or movement from the strap. My issues: πŸ’” This exercise is a super challenge for me. Maintaining a flat line from my hip to my fingertips takes strength, control and focus.

Work to keep the body on a straight line and to hold the shoulder blades and hips down as you move the carriage in and out. Inhale as you press out, and exhale as you pull the carriage back home. Pro Tip:πŸ”‘ Avoid over flexing your wrists, or hyper-extending your elbows. Keep you heels lifted and pressed together. This exercise can be deceptive, and is often misunderstood. The Hug focuses on the Powerhouse while the arms are used as the catalyst of the movement. It may seem easy at first, but when performed correctly, THE HUG is a worthy challenge. Pro Tip:πŸ”‘ The Hug is good for strengthening the lungs. use the opening and closing of the arms as a way to oxygenate the body. Breathe in as you close the arms, then exhale as you open. You can try reversing the breath after you have mastered the first pattern. Avoid opening the arms too wide, because it will compromise your torso placement and control. And always keep the shoulders down and the neck long. Don't lock your elbows or flex your wrists too much. The shoulder blades should be flush to the upper back and the neck relaxed. Work to eliminate tension in the neck and shoulders. Heels are down and toes up is optional. The upper body.should appear still, with the push/pull action happening in the lower body. Breathing: 😚Inhale on push out , exhale on pull in. My issues: TIGHT ACHILES I have to move my feet forward to achieve all the goals of this exercise. This is my modification. If my feet are back I can't keep shoulders over wrists. We helped them take the gym completely apart for maitinance then back together again.
